Job Description:

Job duties include but not limited to the following: Provides academic advising, career exploration/counseling, and transfer advising for students enrolled in career and technical programs. Assist CTE (Career Technical Education) students with the development of career plans, as well as advising students in overcoming obstacles to completing their programs. Help students access and complete Focus 2 career assessment programs.
Assist the Coordinator of Internships and Career Placement with day-to-day management of career counseling activities for the office.
Participate in student advising and registration sessions to ensure that students register for appropriate courses in a timely manner.

Requirements:

Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training involving college admissions, academic advisement, career exploration or development, or program/project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred:

Knowledge of online data base systems; Banner, Degree works, and Navigate. Knowledge of current trends in how academic advising and career exploration are related. Prior experience in working with diverse or non-traditional students needed. Strong interpersonal, organizational skills. Excellent judgement and decision making ability. Exhibit training, sensitivity and commitment to the needs of youth and adults from disadvantaged backgrounds

Position Status:

 Part-time Non-benefited, Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) union position Grant Funded Position.

Hours:

 18 hours/week or 936 hours annually. This position does not work during the months of December and July. The regular weekly schedule is as follows:

Monday:

10:00 AM•5:00

PM Tuesday:

9:00 AM•3:30

PM Thursday:

10:00 AM•5:00

PM Peak Period Adjustment:

During the peak advising and registration periods in August and January, the schedule will increase to five days per week.

Salary:

 $35.31 per hour. This is a grant-funded position that is renewed annually.

Worksite:
