- Ongoing training, career advancement programs, tuition reimbursement, and leadership development Eliot is seeking a creative/passionate Housing First Coordinators (Bilingual) to provide onsite case management & support in a highly collaborative fashion with residents.
Successful candidates will have unwavering compassion, as well as an open mind in terms of pathways to recovery/harm reduction with respect to substance use disorders. Working knowledge of area resources/providers, housing navigation, and tenancy preservation are a plus.
Responsibilities:
Empower residents with exercising autonomy and independence in all aspects of their life. Assist with identifying choices and developing skills in self-advocacy. Collaborate across the team at all levels to ensure that resident perspective is always included, that preferences are recognized and that choices are maximized. Provide guidance to clients in recovery or harm reduction process. Provide advocacy, support, and education during orientation and throughout service delivery. Assist clients in being fully integrated into their communities by supporting them with resource utilization and/or obtaining memberships of interest (e.g. gym, library, civic associations). Provide practical help and mentoring/modeling, advocacy, coordination, side-by-side individualized support, problem solving and direct assistance to help clients obtain skills needed for daily independent living. Promote concepts of health and wellness by assisting clients with accessing information and services related to medical care including HIV care resources, nutrition, and exercise as appropriate.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field required. For candidates with lived experience with substance use disorder who have 2 years sustained sobriety. High school diploma/GED and at least one year of paid or volunteer experience working with adults with mental illness and/or substance abuse. Strong commitment to substance use recovery and housing first philosophy. Ability to provide flexible services that are community based and focused on team work. Ability to speak either of the needed languages ( Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, or French)
