Responsibilities:
The Success Coach is responsible for working with individuals who reside at, or work with the McAuley Residence. The Success Coach is responsible for coordinating and conducting proactive advising that helps residence identify post-secondary education or career pathways. The Success Coach will help individuals stay on track to successfully complete their program of study. The Coach provides services which include student onboarding, advisement, academic progress review, and development and coordination of retention efforts. The Coach will maintain a thorough knowledge of community-based resources and services for referrals and serves as the liaison between the workforce team and community workforce programs to ensure residence and their families are able to reach their goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates Degree and at least 3 years of recent experience in higher education, knowledge of and proven experience in working with individuals in an advising or coaching capacity. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills;
Desired:
Bachelor’s Degree, four years of recent experience in a community college, experience in student advising, knowledge of best practices in academic learning communities, excellent writing, and presentations skills, demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators and staff.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Use strong relationship-building and communication skills with individuals to help develop career and educational plans. Will work one on one and in group settings to provide educational content in preparation for post-secondary and training opportunities.
Serve as liaison to community-based programs that support the educational endeavors of their clients and provide community-based referrals to individuals who may face additional barriers to help leverage resources.
Work closely with the Workforce team to provide additional workshops and forums that will help with successful completion of the program which could include development of internal curriculum.
Participate in systemwide success workshops and forums, college committees, events, and public functions, including opportunities to increase and share knowledge about the role of the Success Coach to improve advising resources and strategies.
