Full Job Description Description:

The Employment Specialist at Woodhaven Learning Center plays a vital role in the Community Employment Services team, assisting individuals with disabilities in achieving meaningful employment. This position supports clients through career planning, job acquisition and retention, and provides resources and support necessary for long-term success in the workforce. Responsibilities also include collaboration with community partners, employers, and internal staff, while maintaining compliance with CARF accreditation, the Missouri Department of Mental Health, and Vocational Rehabilitation standards.

Requirements:

Client Support and Training Develop and implement Individual Vocational Plans (IVPs) in collaboration with clients, families, and service teams. Provide training in resume development, job search techniques, interview skills, and workplace soft skills. Assist clients with on-the-job support, including coaching and retention services. Monitor and support job performance and advocate for accommodations as needed. Program Support Assist with the Summer Employment Experience program, including employer partnerships and student support. Maintain accurate records for billing, outcome tracking, and program documentation. Lead or participate in employment-related meetings and planning sessions. Program and Personnel Management Ensure implementation of person-centered Individual Plans and maintain safety and rights of individuals served. Participate in staff recruitment, training, and scheduling when necessary. Support conflict resolution, staff evaluations, and ongoing training needs. Public Relations and Compliance Promote positive relationships with employers, partner agencies, and stakeholders. Represent the organization professionally to external partners and community representatives. Monitor program expenses and assist with budget compliance. Participate in committees, task forces, and other agency initiatives.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training/experience in human services or related field. Minimum three (3) years of experience in sales, employment services, or relevant human services. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Missouri chauffeur’s license (within two weeks of hire) and acceptable driving record. Successful completion of initial and annual training, including CPR, First Aid, Positive Behavior Interventions, Universal Precautions, and lifting techniques. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Physical Requirements Sedentary work with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity, speaking, hearing, and visual acuity. No significant exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Work Schedule Flexible schedule based on the needs of the Workforce Development Department. Occasional variation in hours and work location should be expected.
