DescriptionSUMMARY:

 Career-Technical Education Student Services Coordinator has the responsibility to provide general and specific available opportunities, eligibility requirements for enrollment, specific program offerings, special services, employment opportunities, and placement opportunities to all students upon enrollment in a career-technical program. Reports to the Dean of Career and Technical Education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ensures that special populations are provided equal access to recruitment, enrollment, retention, completion, placement activities, and preparatory and support services for career-technical education programs and nontraditional education and training programs.2. Provides for collecting, organizing, and analyzing information about individuals through assessments, student records, testing, interviews, and professional sources.3. Assesses the interests, aptitudes, and abilities of special populations for career-technical and educational planning, and for nontraditional education and training.4. Compiles occupational and educational information to assist special populations in making and achieving educational and career-technical objectives. Provides nontraditional occupational, educational, and other information to enable special populations to formulate realistic educational and career-technical plans.5. Provides guidance, counseling, and career development services or referral to assist special populations achieve realistic educational and career-technical goals.6. Provides transitional, supportive, tutorial, and mentoring services that are required to ensure the success of special populations enrolled in or preparing to enroll in career-technical education and/or nontraditional education and training programs.7. Ensures that special populations are provided with supplementary services required by law, such as: (a) classroom modifications, (b) equipment modifications, © supportive and related services, (d) instructional aids and devices, (e) academic assistance, and (f) equal access to nontraditional education and training programs and related services.8. Provides transitional information and services for all special populations students enrolled or prepares to enroll in career-technical education and training programs.9. Reviews curricula to eliminate sex bias and sex role stereotyping, and assist in the adaptations to special populations needs.10. Prepares or selects and implements assessments, and records assessment results.11. Confers with special populations students when indicated.12. Works with others in the resolution of special populations academic or behavioral problems.13. Assists special populations in the achievement and mastery of the necessary skills and objectives required for them to be successful in the career-technical and academic courses in which they are enrolled by adapting techniques and methods of instruction to meet individual needs.14. Provides counseling, instruction, and service to out-of-school youth and adults in academic and nonacademic courses, vocational programs, and nontraditional education and training programs.15. Provides services to prepare special populations for nontraditional education, training, and employment in high skill, high wage occupations.16. Maintains records and documentation detailing services and activities provided to special populations.17. Serves as special populations/student services liaison between academic and career-technical instructors, counselors, administrators, and various agency personnel for the purpose of ensuring special populations success in vocational and nontraditional education and training programs.18. Develops and submits a local program of work for special populations.19. Develops and implements annual assessment plans and compiles data/results for inclusion in the Colleges Annual Assessment Report.20. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

 Bachelor’s degree in education with a major or minor in mathematics, English, elementary, adult education, special education, vocational education, or a master’s degree in education.

 The work environment is an office setting with moderate noise.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
