Position Summary:
The Pre-ETS (Pre-Employment Transition Services) Specialist will provide classroom instruction to middle and high school students with diversified learning needs. This position focuses on equipping students with the skills needed to transition successfully from school to employment or post-secondary education. The Pre-ETS Specialist plays a vital role in helping students identify their strengths, interests, and abilities while fostering the development of competitive and marketable skills for future success.
Primary Duties:
Deliver interactive lessons in areas such as digital skills, customer service, virtual reality career exploration, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, self-advocacy, professionalism, financial management, resume writing, job search strategies, and interview skills. Teach students employability and transition skills using methods and materials tailored to individual needs. Provide direct instruction in alignment with established curriculum and adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles. Assess students’ strengths, areas for development, and career interests. Collaborate with students to set individualized goals and measurable outcomes based on assessments and their input. Guide students in creating portfolios that include certificates, skill documentation, and letters of recommendation from internships or other work experiences. Track student progress and provide ongoing feedback and support to ensure skill development. Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and outcomes. Work with schools, vocational rehabilitation counselors, and families to ensure the highest level of student success. Able to work harmoniously as part of a team, setting an example in speech, attire and other positive professional behaviors. Other duties as assigned.
Education, Licensure and Certifications:
Associate’s degree required with bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Other preferred qualifications include certification or experience in special education, vocational training or work in related fields. Experience working with students with IEPs, 504 plans, or documented medical diagnoses highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to build trust and support with program participants and educational staff. Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed. Proficiency in
Microsoft Office:
Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams to facilitate communication, data collection and analysis for reporting and programmatic planning. Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed for creating and adapting presentations for multiple audiences using various technology platforms. Familiarity with transition planning and the vocational rehabilitation process. Knowledge of assistive technology and accommodations for students with diverse learning needs. Experience in career coaching or workforce development.

Physical Requirements:
Work in an environment that may involve occasional high stress and short deadlines, potentially requiring overtime. Sit, stand, and walk for most of the workday. Routinely bend, stoop, pull, push, reach, kneel, twist, and turn throughout the day. Ability to lift 25 pounds in an office or worksite environment This position works in a high school setting, with frequent travel to community locations as needed. The part-time Pre-ETS Specialist will work collaboratively with school staff and external partners to deliver services. Classes will generally meet Monday-Friday at scheduled times.
Travel:
Frequent travel required. Routinely travel to schools and other community locations and must be flexible to travel overnight for training/business purposes.
