The Lab Specialist must hold a bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S.) from a four-year accredited college or university and have a minimum of two years of related experience.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

The Lab Specialist for the Rankin Student Success Center (SSC) will monitor the SSC lab and equipment needs, work with the SSC coordinators to build and monitor tutoring services, provide academic support to all students using the SSC, manage student individualized progress plans through the early alert system, and build relationships with other campus support services. Among other duties and responsibilities, the Lab Specialist must be familiar with Microsoft Office products.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The Lab Specialist must hold a bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited college or university and have a minimum of two years of related experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND

RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices. Be familiar with Microsoft Office products. Assist all students using the center with academic support as needed, both face to face and virtually. Monitor student progress through the early alert system, maintain contact with students, and make individual student progress plans. Coordinate and assist scheduling for the use of the center by faculty and other departments as needed and maintain a clean, orderly, and inviting center. Support student tutors working in the center. Generate reports and meet with SSC Coordinators and faculty as needed. Proactively generate support for and usage of the
