$39.1K – $58.6K a year 12 hours ago Qualifications Working with people with disabilities 5 years Teaching Certification Mid-level Driver’s License Bachelor’s degree Teaching Full Job Description General Definition of Work The Employability Coach will establish and maintain job sites within the community to develop the work skills of students with disabilities; train and support Exceptional Children job coaches; Assign students and job coaches to job training sites on a quarterly basis; Maintain all documentation related to work readiness and employability; And establish and maintain working relationships with teachers with the Occupational Course of Study (OCS) and EC centralized classroom placements. Qualification Requirements Bachelor’s Degree from an approved education program in Special Education, or related field NC teaching license in Exceptional Children with at least 5 years experience Preferred experience with the Occupational Course of Study (OCS) Salary 10-month position, Based on North Carolina Teaching Salary Schedule Reports to Director of Exceptional Children Essential Functions Support Community Based Vocational Training (CBVT): Work in close contact with local businesses and maintain job training sites for the OCS Program. Obtain training agreements and other applicable documentation with local businesses providing job training placements. Coordinate student placements and job coach assignments in CBVT settings. Prepare job development plans for each CBVT site and develop individual student training plans. Maintain job coach and OCS materials in a manner accessible to users. Maintain ongoing communication with businesses to help ensure good customer service. Assist with refining procedures for CBVT and with the implementation of CBVT as a system wide program. Help ensure the CBVT training component is implemented in accordance with the established state and local Community Based Guidelines/Procedures and Department of Labor guidelines. Oversee the day-to-day operation of CBVT and sharing pertinent information with supervisors. Assist with job coaching and evaluation of students at job sites. Serve as liaison between classroom teachers and community placements, providing feedback on student progress and needs. Coordinate transportation to job sites. Collect and analyze quarterly program/job coach evaluation data to improve overall job program and to provide input to the direct supervisors of job coaches. Develop new job sites within the community to meet the needs of the growing population of students.

Support EC Programming & Staff Development:

Assist with programming and coordinate job placements and supervision for students on the Extended Content Standards (High School Transition Program). Help ensure all OCS student requirements are met for graduation. Attend student IEP meetings, as needed, for work related information. Assist with the training of job coaches during staff development meetings and by direct training at job sites. Facilitate and/or take part in staff development activities related to CBVT and transition to adulthood.

Agency Support:

Collect and maintain all data required for verifying compliance with Department of Labor regulations. Collaborate with job site and EC Office Coordinator/Treasurer to ensure accurate billing for the Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities Stipend Program. Maintain ongoing communication with Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD) counselors and other community agencies. Collaborate with job alike county and statewide agencies. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good understanding of students with a variety of disabilities and long-range planning to facilitate successful transition to adulthood. Able to understand the needs of businesses. Able to communicate and advocate effectively with multiple stakeholders including business contacts, parents, students, school administrators, and teachers. Collaboration both within and outside the school community. Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Able to work with CCS school staff and the business community. Strong problem-solving skills. Extensive knowledge of community resources for students with disabilities. Possess a North Carolina (or equivalent) driver’s license and reliable transportation. Physical Requirements This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force. Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting. Work has standard vision requirements. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities. Work requires some exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
