Summary:
The Race Director is responsible for developing and communicating the plan and contingencies for on-track race activities.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate the racing program in conjunction with Series Directors; consider the needs of all WRG departments, including and not limited to Fan Engagement, Client Services and Marketing Partner with any local or facility support classes Communicate and liaison with participants and car owners, including holding mandatory driver meeting Assist Series Director and/or other WRG staff with event related items such as competition notes, run-of-show schedule and other documents Watch for and control racing activities, such as cautions, on-track incidents, safety violations, rules violations and other related concerns;
communicate with the track safety crews, WRG personnel and flagmen In coordination with technical officials, manage and enforce technical rules When necessary, substitute for officials (flag, race control, etc.) As needed, manage ancillary race officials including placement, scheduling and performance management Represent the series in identifying and solving issues, suggesting rule amendments and communication with relevant parties Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
At least two years of related experience in race operations, track operations, or motorsports officiating Able and willing to make quick decisions Able to learn and understand the Series rulebook Familiar with the Microsoft suite, especially Word, Outlook and Excel Valid US driver’s license needed, CDL helpful Able to legally enter and exit Canada Able to quickly and willingly juggle multiple high-priority requests History of and willingness to work in a team environment Able to verbally communicate professionally and effectively at all times High sense of ownership and personal accountability required Sense of initiative necessary Able to maintain a positive demeanor, even in highly stressful or demanding situations

Full Time Exempt Time Demands:
This position requires frequent sitting and occasional walking and standing; the use of hands to grasp and feel frequently; the use of arms in overhead and shoulder positions; the use of voice to speak in person, with a microphone and with a headset; able to hear through headset and in person; the occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds; infrequent lifting up to 50 pounds; and requires use of close and far vision under natural and artificial light. This position is based outdoors. When at an event, the safety concerns include exposure to loud noises; exposure to dust, fumes and other irritants; exposure to outdoor elements; potential exposure to mechanical equipment; potential exposure to vehicles moving at varied rates of speed. This position is expected to practice preventative safety measures at all times.
Travel:
This position follows the World of Outlaws Late Model schedule. Overnight monthly travel can vary between 5%-95% during the racing season. In addition to a traditional work week, this position may be utilized during evening and/or weekend hours, especially during racing season.
