What You’ll Do:

The Career & Community Navigator is responsible for facilitating career development and mission services to diverse users, implementing work readiness coaching, group and individual instruction, resource navigation, and other services to individuals accessing Goodwill for training, career assistance, and resource navigation. This person will work with an evolving caseload to implement services, including but not limited to individual assessment, career mapping, training plan creation and execution, and general counseling to help people meet their goals. This role is responsible for the development and enhancement of partner relationships in the city of High Point . The Career & Community Navigator position is newly created, with funding and support from Resilience High Point/The Bridge. As a new program design is rolled out, a critical component of this role will be to develop and foster high quality, high impact partnerships throughout High Point. A large portion of this person’s time will be spent on program recruitment, community events, and similar outreach activities. The Career & Community Navigator must be skilled at creating and maintaining high quality relationships as they support and guide people through adversity, while also demonstrating the initiative and leadership required to initiate dialogue while carefully considering the impact of actions on others. This role works extensively with partnering employers and businesses, facilitating successful job placement for program graduates. This includes job searching with and on behalf of enrolled individuals, cold calling potential employers, building and managing healthy relationships with employer partners, contributing to partner and networking databases, and working creatively and proactively to enrich the employment outcomes of all program participants. Must become fully knowledgeable about the schedule of trainings, services, and resources available through Goodwill and other community agencies, and integrates those services into information provided to participants. Perform a variety of office and administrative duties including collection of participant data and accurate record keeping, case noting, plan creation, correspondence, report preparation, expense reconciliation, etc., in an accurate and timely manner. Includes grant activity reports. Refer and connects people to other appropriate programs for assistance in a wide variety of areas as needed. Education, Experience, and Skills that are a must: Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in human services, sociology, psychology, business management, education, or related field. High school diploma with 6 years’ related experience, may be considered in lieu of Associate’s degree. Minimum of 4 years of experience providing case management, career navigation, instruction, or similar supports to diverse populations in social service settings. Must have a valid NC driver’s license, acceptable driving record, reliable personal vehicle, adequate vehicle insurance coverage, and ability to travel locally on a daily basis. Ability to independently negotiate competing priorities and facilitate productive relationships with diverse teams. Must have excellent researching, organizational, and communication skills. Strong computer and digital literacy skills are required, including intermediate or better skills with Microsoft Office Suite, database use, web-based learning and online job application platforms; knowledge of peripheral devices, digital platforms, tools, and software. Comfortable and effective at handling customers and situations without input from others and in alignment with organizational mission, values, and philosophies. Due to the nature of the position as a front-line human service provider, successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to be creative, self-sufficient, and proactive, with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to work alone, multi-task, and juggle competing priorities. Flexibility and responsiveness to frequent change is critical in this role. Must have a good command of written and spoken English, including good grammar (Bi-lingual in Spanish is strongly preferred). Must successfully pass pre-employment drug and background screens.

Pay Range & Schedule:

This position is hourly/non-exempt. Wage is $22-$23 per hour, based on qualification/experience. Position is full-time. Work is generally conducted Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, with some requirements for evening and/or weekend events. Position is located in High Point, NC, with occasional travel throughout our 5-county service footprint including Alamance, Caswell, Guilford, Randolph, and Rockingham Counties.
