The primary purpose of the Community Employment Program Specialist (BRR) is to assist individuals with disabilities in preparing for and securing Competitive employment. The primary focus in on helping clients with disabilities find and maintain competitive employment by working closely with the Rehabilitation Counselor assessing client skill, interests, and abilities.
Job responsibilities include the following:
Assist in the placement of eligible consumers incompatible and competitive employment that is consistent with their interests and abilities Work closely with counselors to determine appropriate vocational goals for consumers and identify the availability of similar positions Teaching employment marketing classes to work-ready consumers Presentations to businesses and community partners, meet with local and regional employers to better understand their business needs, explain agency mission and goals and to obtain their agreement and commitment to hire vocational rehabilitation (VR) consumers Providing consistent written and verbal feedback to counselors regarding the progress of referred consumers’ efforts to obtain employment. Participate in job fairs and other community events to promote and present the agency and its consumers as well as represent the work unit on boards/committees as designated by the Unit Manager Marketing On the job training and Internships to employers when applicable, as well as marketing and presenting Windmills Disability Awareness Training to local employers. High school or General Educational Development (GED) and four years of directly related work experience; OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
