Tenancy Peer Support Specialist – SPC Promise Resource Network – 3.8 Charlotte, NC Job Details Full-time $18 – $21 an hour 2 days ago Qualifications Mid-level Driver’s License Conflict management Mentoring Leadership Communication skills Full Job Description Tenancy Peer Support Specialist utilizing SAMSHA’s 8 Dimensions of Wellness will assist the individuals served in SPC in increasing and restoring their ability to live successfully in the community by maintaining tenancy. By doing so, the individuals will increase the ability to live as independently as possible, managing MH/SA related illnesses and reestablishing his or her roles related around the 8 Dimensions. Description Responsibilities Coordinate with SPC Team including Peer Support Specialist and Employment Specialist around activities including, but not limited to: establish individualized recovery plans, provide supports in the community as well as at recovery education programs, facilitate recovery classes as scheduled, employment support and outreach to potential peers and community. Assess and provide guidance, resources, and support on needed social and independent living skills to support the capacity to live independently and maintain housing. Assist when applicable with identifying resources to cover expenses to cover security deposit, moving costs, furnishings, adaptive aids, environmental modifications, and other needs when identified. Ensure and maintain contact with individuals to ensure that the living environment is safe. Assist individual when issues arise that may jeopardizing housing in partnership with the Peer Support Specialist such as late rental payment and other potential lease violations. Along with PSS, assist the individual in understanding the role, rights and responsibilities of the tenant and the landlord. Assist individual with the ability to self-advocate with landlords/property managers with a goal of fostering successful tenancy. Along with PSS, assist in resolving disputes with landlords and/or neighbors to reduce risk of eviction when housing is, or may potentially become jeopardized. Assist the individual in gaining access to obtain birth certificates, social security cards, facilitate credit repair through education and classes offered through PRN, and expungement of criminal records corrections when available through workshops at PRN. Assists in accessing financial entitlements such as SSI/SSDI, Medicaid, Special Assistance, food stamps, VA benefits and payeeship (as needed) including assisting with applications for these entitlements and identifying and referring to local Involvement in a variety of projects as assigned but not limited to: marketing efforts, curriculum development, outreach to potential peer staff and peer service recipients, and additional program development activities as assigned. Assist individual with navigating health services system, self-help groups, social skills, and all other skills and services relevant to the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. Qualifications and Experience Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist. Belief in the recovery potential of all people and is committed to the philosophy of peer support by reinforcing their ability to work and/or achieve personal goals. Ability to receive guidance, training, and mentoring to grow skills and knowledge. Demonstrates leadership by modeling PRN’s mission, values, philosophy, and guidance to team members. Demonstrates taking personal responsibility, being dependable, reliable, working as a team player, and utilizing personal determination skills. Demonstrates honesty, integrity, is ethical and approachable. Ability to interact effectively with the public, providers, and other stakeholders. Committed to personal recovery and wellness and has a personal history of recovery and lived experiences in seeking and receiving crisis-based support. Ability to manage time and complete tasks. Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation. Demonstrate honesty, and integrity, is ethical, and is approachable. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) using active and reflective listening, asking curious questions, validating others’ experiences, remaining non-judgmental, and demonstrating effective conflict resolution skills. Must have a valid NC Driver’s license. Salary $18 – $21 per hour
