This role is our customer facing Career Advisor, responsible for providing direct, customer-centered services that provide training opportunities and employability guidance in order to connect customers with full-time employment. The training tools available to assist customers and businesses alike are occupational skills training scholarships, paid Work Experience, and On-the-Job Training in full time employment. This role will interview customers to assess eligibility, career interests, and develop specific training plans to facilitate successful completion and connection to employment. The position involves meeting and maintaining close contact with the customer/trainee to assist in progressing towards training completion and then work with them directly on attaining employment based on the training. This requires building and maintaining relationships with the customer and taking ownership of ensuring that customer is successful and can be placed after training completion. This individual will provide career counseling, resume assistance, and employability guidance and advice to customers. They will maintain all information related to the customer’s engagement with our services in an online data management system, which involves uploading needed documentation, maintaining timely case notes, and coding work activities focused on the customer. All information and documentation is critical and must adhere fully to all stated/published policies and procedures. Will initiate payment authorizations for school costs, work experience payments, On-the-Job Training reimbursements, and other associated training costs, so must be highly attentive to financial details and documentation of costs procedures. This position will also involve prospecting and building relationships with businesses, hiring managers, and HR departments to establish connections to facilitate job placements for your customers locally. You must be able to assess business needs and be able to make relevant recommendations on the employability of your customers in relation to the needs of the business/industry based on the training received. This also requires attention to detail in preparing pre-employment documentation, wage file documentation, along with recording and notation of all business engagement via the online data management system. This individual is goal driven and recognizes that productivity is a performance expectation. Understands the key to our success is the successful achievement of talent employment as the result of assisting our customers with the key employment development tools at our disposal. Must be able to ensure and demonstrate the highest level of customer service delivery at all times. This individual must be a multi-tasker who easily ensures quality service delivery but also the ability to build positive working relationships with our customers, businesses, and partner organizations. This individual expects to be THE talent development subject expert and is proactive in both the service they provide customers and in demonstrating their value to the company through service excellence and high productivity.
Daily responsibilities:
Build collaborative working relationships with all partner staff at all worksites, including corporate level staff. Will be directly involved in all aspects of Career Center services to include greeting customers, service registrations online, and initial assessment of employability. Will provide customers with informative orientation for the variety of services available through Career Center and affiliated partner services that may be offered offsite. Must project a welcoming, professional attitude, appearance and demeanor to customers, Center co-workers, and business customers at all times. Utilizes policy and regulatory guidance to make determinations on customer eligibility, potential for services to offer, etc. Will utilize desktop computer to input online data management information on all customers, track services delivered, record contact discussions, and maintain all eligibility items. All work is expected to be performed with the utmost degree of accuracy and records input in a timely manner. Data input, maintenance and accuracy are mission critical and is the rule, not the exception. Individual must be able to multi-task numerous customer engagements, manage their personal workflow and utilize both prioritization and high level of organizational skills. Will be expected to demonstrate, on a daily basis, exceptional business communication skills (both verbally and written), and the ability to communicate business points clearly and concisely. The individual must recognize that the focus on is successful employment outcomes for customers and daily utilize their understanding of available services, labor market needs, and employer expectations to assist customers to successfully meet placement expectations. Will be expected to maintain daily activity reports and provide monthly reporting to supervisor on key activities in a timely and accurate manner. Individuals in these positions must be focused on quality in all aspects of their work and possess a strong desire to succeed in order to meet performance goals.
Experience and Education:
Prefer BA/BS degree in HR, Business management, Human Services, etc.; other areas of study will be considered; or, Associates Degree (2 year) in related areas. Prefer 1-3 years of experience in a customer facing, process oriented professional service delivery role. Prior experience in a professional service delivery organization such as banking, mortgage processing, HR generalist, or human service eligibility operations, or similarly related work will be considered and is preferred. Will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Competitive, goal-oriented individual with abilities to establish priorities and lead a team to complete productivity objectives daily with minimal direct supervision. Dynamic professional with strong interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with WIOA (Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act) programming, eligibility, process is preferable but not mandatory. Bi-lingual capabilities in English/Spanish would be helpful, but is not a requirement. Knowledge of business marketing, human resources engagement, and professional service delivery is highly preferred. Must understand and accept true productivity expectations and possess the drive, business intelligence, and intuition to make quality and effective business decisions daily.
