DEFINITION

This position coordinates the Human Resources Development (HRD) program classes and Integrated Ed. & Training (IET) career pathways, and provides academic advising to Academic & Career Readiness department (ACR) students for transitioning to postsecondary education, training, and employment.

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Develop, promote, deliver, and coordinate employability skills and basic job training skills classes and IET pathways to students in ACR, unemployed or underemployed public, and to businesses and industries in New Hanover and Pender counties. Develop and implement innovative, viable training programs that enhance individuals’ employability. Utilize advanced budgeting skills to ensure fiscally responsible training provision that meets community needs and supports the college’s goals. Recruit, interview, evaluate, and hire instructors; develop and draft instructor contracts; plan and schedule classes. Provide academic and transitions advising for ACR students. Assist students with the CFCC and financial aid application processes. Meet with community-based organizations, corporate, and industry leaders to identify continuing education needs, develop programs, and design courses to meet specified needs. Participate in the development of advertising for HRD classes and IET pathways; prepare brochures and advertising materials. Collect and submit registration forms, fees, class rosters, pay and attendance sheets and other documentation as required; prepare reports regarding data collected. Create instructional contracts and collect and process pay sheets. Collect and review all forms for end of class packets and meet compliance standards. Follow up with clients and students in terms of customer satisfaction and additional training needs. Follow through and carry out required rules and regulations as set by CFCC, the North Carolina Community College Systems office, the Department of Labor and the Department of Commerce. Visit classes on and off campus and program orientations to share information regarding admissions, program offerings, financial aid, major selection and other aspects of the transition process. Provide ongoing advising to ACR students and assistance with resume writing and other employability skills in the ACR Resume Lab. Assist students with class registration in CFCC Curriculum and Continuing Education/EWD classes. Work closely with Admissions staff, Testing Services, and Financial Aid advisors to make sure students complete, meet and exceed all admissions and placement requirements. Maintain transition advising records and document student outcomes. Respond to requests and inquiries from students, faculty, staff and local and state agencies; provide detailed information and give directions. Maintain sound knowledge of the college’s financial aid process, degree auditing and placement testing procedures and deadlines. Generate ideas for and participate in recruitment and publicity activities. Collaborate with other department staff to increase student retention and transition. Schedule assemblies, workshops and information sessions; recruit guest speakers and collaborate with other intercollegiate departments to provide information regarding academic programs, job training and job skills. Assist program coordinators to train the instructional staff on transition opportunities, and incorporating job training and soft skills in the classroom. Maintain information regarding local and regional hiring events.

Other Important Functions:

Assist faculty, administrative staff, and students with various support tasks including accessing computerized information. Assist with student registration processes, in person, on FundFive, and in Self Service. Maintain current knowledge of Curriculum and Continuing Education processes and procedures as well as general college policies and procedures. Maintain HRD program materials Collaborate with Coordinators to publicize student and staff recognitions and accomplishments. Participate on various college committees and other institutional activities. Collaborate with community agencies to establish and foster a student support network. Plan and participate in professional development activities on and off campus. Provide direct support to the Senior Director of Academic & Career Readiness. Assist other program coordinators as needed. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required and assigned. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:

Organizational and management practices as applied to the analysis and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs. The College admissions process, student registration, completion of the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and placement procedures. Adult Education programs, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, and Title II federal funding. Industry training trends. Marketing principles and techniques. Online learning platforms and best practices for online instruction. Local and regional employment trends and community employment agencies. CFCC Curriculum and Economic & Workforce Development (EWD) program offerings. Customer Service skills and principles. Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation. Modern presentation skills and technology. Microsoft Office, Ellucian or other data management systems.

Ability To:

Accommodate flexible work hours and travel to off-campus locations. Maintain compliance records for college and state requirements. Read and comprehend grants and procedures required to comply with grant mandates. Respond to inquiries and requests for information in a timely and professional manner. Work independently in the absence of supervision. Organize work for timely completion.
