Director of CTE and School Administrator Position Overview The Special Populations Coordinator supports the academic and career success of students within identified special populations enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. This individual will coordinate services, develop individualized support plans, collaborate with educators and service providers, and ensure compliance with performance indicators and legal requirements. The position is aligned with evaluation standards and supports equity and access in CTE for all students. Major Responsibilities 1. Accountability and Planning Collaborate with school and CTE administrators to identify CTE programs in need of improvement. Develop and implement strategies and services that support special populations students in meeting performance goals. Maintain accurate records and inventories related to services. Create an annual work plan based on needs assessments and evaluations. 2. Assessment and Prescription Identify and track special populations students each semester. Share student needs and recommended instructional strategies with CTE teachers. Develop, monitor, and implement Career Development Plans Plus (CDP+). Participate in IEP meetings for students enrolled in CTE as needed. Maintain a CTE resource lab and coordinate related services and transitions. 3. Coordination with Other Service Providers Work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, and external agencies to support student success. Coordinate in-service training for educators on special populations strategies. Monitor the delivery and quality of IEP and CDP+ services. Facilitate work-based learning experiences and field trips for special populations. 4. Monitoring Access, Progress, and Success Analyze school and course data to track student access and success in CTE programs. Evaluate performance indicator outcomes to inform programming. 5. Outreach and Recruitment Partner with Career Development Coordinators (CDC), counselors, CTE teachers, and CTSOs to promote enrollment of special population students. Inform students and families about CTE pathways and support services. 6. Professional Development Attend professional learning opportunities relevant to the role. Engage in networking activities with other Special Populations Coordinators at the local, regional, and state levels.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree Licensure:
Current Continuing Professional License in one of the following: Career and Technical Education (CTE) program area Exceptional Children’s Education School Counselor at the G level Experience (Required): Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: CTE teaching Special education administration or instruction School counseling Career development coordination Educational leadership or related student support roles Path to Continuing License Option 1: Complete the NCDPI Special Populations Course Option 2 (6 Semester Hours + Induction): 3 semester hours in: Instructional Methods for Special Needs Students, OR Diversity, OR Psychology 3 semester hours in: Classroom Assessment and Evaluation, OR Exceptionalities, OR Principles of Career Counseling and Development, OR Theories and Techniques of Counseling Completion of the NCDPI Special Populations Coordinator Induction
