Pay Grade:

Specialist 8 The purpose of the Career and College Access Coach is to serve as the lead recruiter at designated high schools to increase awareness, recruit, and promote the college’s programs. Responsibilities and Duties (•Essential Functions) To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Executes outreach plans as outlined in the college’s strategic plan Assesses the needs of the high schools in collaboration with key school administrators as it relates to improving participation in Career & College Promise and post-high school enrollment at Wake Tech Creates a customized road map of college access activities and experiences targeting students, parent/families, and faculty/staff at each school Tracks all activities and assesses their effectiveness. Provides a data-driven summary at the end of the first year Assists prospective students in navigating FAFSA and inform them of opportunities for funding their educational goals Engages with key administrators to assess the needs of each school and receives buy-in for the career and college access activities Partners with Financial Aid, Career Services, WakeWorks, Workforce Continuing Education, Career and College Promise, and Academic Advising in developing programming and activities designed to expose students and families to the opportunities and support systems at Wake Tech Delivers information sessions, presentations, and application workshops Actively promote college preparedness and readiness in Wake County Public Schools through programs designed by Director of College Access & Outreach Develops assessment measures for each activity and submits a final report with recommendations for future engagement Assists with recruitment activities as needed in Wake County Promotes college access and readiness through various community outreach efforts Plan and participate in recruiting functions including but not limited to open house, campus tours, outreach functions, and information sessions Reports on the success of the program at the end of each academic year

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to plan and implement a strategic set programs and activities in an organized and efficient manner Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds Ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to work independently Ability to use all Microsoft Office tools Ability to assess the effectiveness and ROI for activities and events Ability to work in a team environment

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree Two years experience in recruitment, student success, or college access activities
