The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting individuals in their journey towards meaningful employment. This position involves providing guidance, resources, and support to job seekers, particularly those in the military field. The Employment Counselor will work closely with clients to assess their skills, interests, and barriers to employment while facilitating access to training and development opportunities. Duties Manage team of Employment Counselors across the state of North Carolina. Conduct interviews with clients to assess their employment needs and career goals. Educate clients on job search strategies, resume writing, and interview techniques. Collaborate with social workers and other professionals to create comprehensive support plans for clients. Stay informed about employment labor laws and workforce development initiatives to ensure compliance and best practices. Develop and implement training programs that enhance clients’ employability skills. Mentor clients throughout the job search process, offering encouragement and constructive feedback. Assist in recruiting efforts by connecting clients with potential employers and job openings. Advocate for clients with developmental disabilities to ensure they receive appropriate resources and support in the workplace. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field is preferred. 7+ years of experience is required. Experience in interviewing, mentoring, or workforce development is highly desirable. Knowledge of addiction counseling techniques is a plus. Familiarity with employment labor laws and regulations is beneficial. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective client interaction. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Compassionate approach towards working with diverse populations, including individuals with developmental disabilities. Proficiency in training development methodologies is advantageous.
