Position Overview:
The In-School Youth Specialist is responsible for directly influencing the success of a group of high school-aged youth, including twelve months of post-high school follow-up. This includes classroom facilitation to implement the NH JAG In-School Program and provide mentoring & community connections necessary for youth to overcome barriers.
Essential Functions:
Build a roster of students for the program Market the program throughout the school and community Work with school administration to create a list of eligible students Ensure students in feeder programs in the district are continuing Process required paperwork to enroll youth Facilitate material through project-based learning (PBL) in a high school classroom Utilize JAG constructs to facilitate projects throughout the year Manage the classroom while actively advocating for student voice and choice throughout lessons Plan upcoming lessons and projects utilizing PBL methodology to engage students Liaise with parents as a stakeholder in student success through means such as parent-teacher conferences Create an inclusive classroom culture and instill a sense of community among students Utilize additional JAG frameworks in interactions, such as Trauma Informed Care Prep students to participate in statewide or national events Develop work-based learning experiences, internships, and apprenticeships Maintain a positive image within the NH Works community & effectively develop a cooperative working relationship Engage youth and employers in a future career-readiness capacity Provide career guidance and assistance with entering post-secondary education and/or training Conduct marketing campaign among the private & public sector Organize and provide employment skills training Provide follow-up support to graduating seniors for a 12-month period post-graduation to ensure they have resources for future successes Attend professional development events and training through the district Create support within the community by developing relationships with local social service and support organizations Understand and track social service resources and opportunities Organize and monitor participant involvement in leadership & community service projects Enter, track, and report on specific data measures Maintain accurate participant information Analyze data to identify any participant in need of tutoring, mentoring, or other support Record attendance & progress in all training program areas Complete timely & accurate record keeping in the NH Job Match System Perform additional tasks as assigned
Position Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Counseling, or related field (Associate’s plus experience in lieu of degree acceptable) Minimum 2 years experience working with youth, teaching or counseling Must have strong communication, presentation and organizational skills Ability to understand & work effectively & efficiently with youth, educators, industry partners & employers Job development experience preferred NH JAG is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
