Reporting to the Director, Undergraduate Nursing Program, and collaborating closely with the Assistant Dean for Academic Support Services, this position plays a pivotal role in enhancing the academic success of undergraduate nursing students through both targeted support and strategic initiatives. In addition to working closely with the Academic Resource Center team, the Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Undergraduate Nursing, faculty and staff who interact with students. This position will develop and implement academic success programs as needed, provide one-on-one support, and foster an environment of inclusive excellence. The coordinator facilitates students in exploring and developing attitudes, skills and behaviors that contribute to success in the undergraduate nursing program. This position is a full time, 10-month position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with students to examine habits of learning and studying, information retention and barriers to success Provide academic support and coaching to address individual student concerns, and support students in the development of effective academic skill building Provide one-to-one coaching for students facing academic, professional, and general wellness challenges that could impact overall success, referring to campus resources as appropriate. Collaborate with ARC to assess the effectiveness of current academic support services and programs and develop strategies to address areas of challenge Assist ARC with the coordination of all academic support services, such as tutoring and group study sessions, to complement coursework and exam preparation, and help to proctor exams as needed Collaborate with ARC to plan, facilitate and evaluate workshops, and training sessions designed to address new and emerging student needs to build academic skills- addressing topics such as study skills, study materials, note-taking, test-taking strategies and time management Collaborate closely with program faculty as a resource to provide guidance to best address student learning needs, develop and track academic remediation plans for students struggling to meet course requirements Develop and revise policies relating to the position Collect and analyze student retention data, collaborating with the Director of Undergraduate Nursing to design solutions to improve student retention Educate/inform faculty on best practices for student learning Collaborate with faculty to develop online materials, study guides and “tip sheets” as needed Collaborate with the Director of Undergraduate Nursing on student progression issues Attend appropriate Undergraduate Program Nursing and ARC meetings

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Graduate degree in education, counseling, or healthcare related field One or more years of experience as an academic coach, student success coach, or equivalent. Experience in nursing education preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of coaching, instructional and mentoring techniques Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment Successful candidates will be able to assist the college to further its strategic goals for institution-wide diversity and inclusiveness.
