6/27/2025 11:59 PM Eastern The Position The SCC5 Healthcare Career Coordinator supports healthcare-focused career development and student success efforts under the Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grant (SCC5) at Ocean County College. Reporting to the SCC5 Project Manager, this role serves as a critical bridge between students pursuing healthcare training and the regional workforce. The Healthcare Career Coordinator will guide students through credentialing pathways, provide career planning, and foster strong relationships with healthcare employers to support job placement and clinical experience opportunities. This position emphasizes direct support for participants entering healthcare fields and helps ensure that career services, academic advising, and employer engagement efforts are aligned with labor market needs and grant objectives. This role combines program coordination, employer engagement, and student support to strengthen the healthcare talent pipeline in collaboration with college departments, consortium partners, and community stakeholders. The successful candidate will have experience in healthcare education or workforce development, healthcare and career services, strong organizational skills, and a passion for supporting student success in high-demand healthcare field. This position is grant-funded. Continued employment is contingent upon grant funding. What You Will Do
Provide career guidance to students enrolled in SCC5-funded healthcare programs, including support with career exploration, job search strategies, and navigation of licensure and credentialing requirements.
Coordinate and deliver career readiness programming tailored to healthcare fields, such as resume workshops, mock interviews, licensing exam preparation, and employer-led information sessions. Provide students with healthcare-specific guidance, including credentialing pathways, exam prep resources, licensure steps, and career planning.
Serve as a subject-matter resource on healthcare career pathways, offering students up-to-date guidance on certification requirements, credentialing processes, and advancement opportunities.
Track and document student participation, progress, and outcomes in SCC5 healthcare pathways; maintain accurate data on enrollment, completion, credential attainment, and employment for grant reporting and compliance.
Support & participate in healthcare-related events, employer roundtables, site visits, career fairs, and panel discussions that connect students with industry professionals.
Work collaboratively with the Project Manager and the Project Coordinator to maintain accurate documentation, support recruitment, outreach, and enrollment activities specific to healthcare programs to ensure student services are well-aligned with the SCC5 project milestones.
Assist with grant compliance and reporting, including maintaining documentation, preparing updates and communications, processing participant paperwork, and scheduling student and employer meetings.
Help identify potential risks or barriers to student success, and recommend or implement strategies to support retention and completion of healthcare programs.
Collaborate with faculty and student support services to identify challenges that may affect healthcare program completion or job placement.
Contribute to the creation of marketing and outreach materials specific to healthcare career pathways in collaboration with College Relations and the SCC5 project team.
Actively participate in consortium-wide meetings and initiatives focused on expanding and strengthening the regional healthcare workforce pipeline.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of Ocean County College & SCC5 grant goals.
The Successful Candidate Must Have 1. Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one (3) years of healthcare, public health, education, or a related field; or an Associate’s degree with a minimum of five (5) years of healthcare, public health, education, or a related field.
2. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare education, workforce development, or clinical coordination.
3. Strong understanding of healthcare credentialing and certification processes.
4. Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfort engaging with employers, faculty, and students.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, Google Workspace).
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Even Better If You Have 1. Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Education, or a related field.
2. Experience supporting grant-funded or workforce development initiatives.
3. Familiarity with healthcare employer networks and regional labor market needs.
4. Knowledge of HIPAA, clinical education regulations, or healthcare licensure requirements.
5. Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.
