Job Description

Accessibility Specialist – Reporting to the Dean of Distance Learning, Professional Development, and Student Success, the Accessibility Specialist supports the College’s educational mission by ensuring the provision of necessary accommodations and support services for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Recommend and implement appropriate, reasonable accommodations tailored to individual student needs.

Teach and support students with a range of disabilities, demonstrating strong engagement strategies and inclusive instructional practices.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Liaise with campus and community partners in the success and achievement of students with disabilities.

Administer and interpret psycho-educational and diagnostic assessments to determine specific learning disabilities and evaluate cognitive and achievement levels.

Maintain current knowledge of assistive technologies and provide training and support to students and other end users.

Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Requirements:

Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational or School Psychology, Communication Disorders, Rehabilitative Counseling or a related field required. Three (3) years teaching experience in working with students with disabilities in an educational setting required. Training and experience with the administration of diagnostic instruments, and an awareness of community resources that support diverse learners to be successful is necessary. Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.

The successful candidate will:

Have demonstrated experience teaching or supporting students with diverse disabilities.

Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and support students from varied academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

Be proficient in administering and interpreting psycho-educational/diagnostic assessments.

Be knowledgeable about assistive technology tools and strategies that support accessibility.

Demonstrate sensitivity and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success within a community college setting.

Additional Information:
