Function of Position:

The Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) is seeking responsible and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as part-time Summer Assistants (SAs). Under the supervision of the STEP Director, Summer Assistants play a key role in fostering the academic, personal, and career development of middle and high school students during our summer program. This position offers a meaningful opportunity for those committed to advancing education, youth development, and increasing access to STEM, health-related, and licensed professions. •This is a temporary, grant funded position.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide classroom assistance during academic and enrichment sessions Travel with and chaperone STEP students during off-campus field trips Assist with daily attendance, check-ins, and maintaining accurate student records Supervise students during breaks and meals, ensuring a safe and respectful environment Lead or co-lead ice breakers, group games, and team-building activities Serve as a role model, encouraging positive behavior, personal responsibility, and academic engagement Develop and maintain professional relationships with students, staff, and college faculty members Participate in staff meetings and trainings as scheduled Assist with other program-related projects as assigned

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:

Earned High School Diploma Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working with middle and/or high school students, especially in educational or mentorship settings Experience with technology and social media Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
