Job Description:

Empire State University is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Director of (NYC) Apprenticeships and Dual Enrollment based in New York City to help scale career

  • connected learning opportunities across the region. This position will support the launch and expansion of dual enrollment programs with NYC high schools
  • beginning with Northwell Health Sciences High School
  • and serve as a key liaison for apprenticeship development across healthcare, education, and high-demand sectors.

The Director will advise high school students enrolled in college-level asynchronous courses, collaborate with faculty and partners to ensure curriculum alignment with career pathways, and assist in building pipelines that connect early college credit to workforce training and employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
Dual Enrollment:

+ Serve as the primary point of contact for NYC-based dual enrollment students, school counselors, and instructional staff. + Support onboarding, orientation, and academic advising for high school students in asynchronous online college courses. + Collaborate with faculty and instructional designers to ensure dual enrollment content supports career readiness and student success. + Track student progress and coordinate interventions with school partners as needed.

Apprenticeship & Workforce Pathways:

+ Support the development and implementation of pre-apprenticeship and registered apprenticeship programs across NYC in coordination with industry partners and Empire’s Director of Workforce Development. + Build partnerships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and city agencies to align academic programs with hands-on learning and employment opportunities. + Assist in aligning non-credit and credit offerings to apprenticeship standards and employer needs.

Partnership Management:

+ Serve as an embedded representative of Empire State University in New York City, supporting ongoing collaboration with NYC Public Schools, Northwell Health, and additional partners. + Attend school and district-level meetings, career fairs, and workforce events on behalf of the university. + Support data collection and reporting related to program outcomes and student impact.

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in education, workforce development, counseling, or related field. + At least 3 years of experience working with K-12 schools, community colleges, or workforce/college access organizations. + Knowledge of New York City public schools and career-connected education models. + Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. + Experience supporting student advising, academic support, or career readiness programming.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Master’s degree in education, counseling, or public administration. + Familiarity with dual enrollment programs, SUNY system, and/or New York State Department of Labor apprenticeship models. + Bilingual in Spanish or another language spoken in NYC communities.

Special Information:

+ One-year temporary appointment with possibility of renewal dependent upon grant funding. + This is a hybrid role with travel required within New York City for school visits, partner meetings, and student engagement. + Occasional travel may be required to fulfill university-wide commitments. + Some evening and/or weekend engagement with stakeholders may be required. + Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

Staff Associate, SL4 / $80,000.
