We offer small business development programs, culinary skills training, and job placement, bolstered by individualized wraparound supportive services. Our small business program, HBK Incubates, supports entrepreneurs as they transform their food businesses into sustainable income sources. Culinary Fundamentals, our award-winning culinary training program provides access to high-quality jobs for those starting their careers in the food industry. Our upskilling programs enable incumbent workers to gain further skills leading to higher wages and career advancement. We work diligently alongside our network of over 200 food employer partners and more than 250 nonprofit and government partners to ensure our graduates are set up for success both at home and in their careers.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Hot Bread Kitchen seeks an Employer Engagement Manager to build and manage strategic partnerships with employers to create meaningful job and career pathways for our members. This role focuses on expanding employer relationships and securing entry-level back-of-house (BOH) and front-of-house (FOH) opportunities that match the skills and career goals of our culinary and front-of-house training cohorts. The ideal candidate is a people-oriented relationship builder who understands the NYC food industry and is passionate about workforce development, equity, and creating access to meaningful employment. This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and requires occasional flexibility to work evening and weekend hours.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Employer Engagement & Relationship Building Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with new and existing hospitality and food industry employer partners. Maintain a consistent pipeline of job opportunities for Hot Bread Kitchen members. Prioritize employer partner outreach and follow-up efforts based on the strengths and career goals of training program participants (e.g., location, interests, and schedule availability). Act as a trusted liaison between employer partners and Hot Bread Kitchen to ensure the organization meets stakeholder needs and expectations. Communicate employer needs to ensure training outcomes align with industry trends, hiring practices, and entry-level requirements in the BOH/FOH job market. Events & Outreach Support Support logistics and attend job fairs, mock interviews, hiring events, and employer info sessions to increase employer engagement. Represent Hot Bread Kitchen at external events, meetings, and industry convenings to promote employer engagement. Data & Administrative Support Maintain accurate records of employer outreach, job orders, and outcomes using Salesforce and internal tracking systems. Schedule and support employer partner meetings, information sessions, and events (virtual and in-person).

QUALIFICATIONS

At least 5 years working in the food and/or hospitality industry in NYC. Strong knowledge of the NYC food industry, including restaurant operations and entry-level BOH/FOH roles. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Prior experience in workforce development, job placement, employer engagement, career coaching, or recruiting is a plus. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team. Highly organized, responsive, and detail-oriented with strong documentation and follow-through. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and CRM tools such as Salesforce (or a willingness to learn).

LOCATION AND HOURS

This is a hybrid position that requires a minimum of 3 days a week in person at Chelsea Market or community-based locations across New York City. This includes having the flexibility to work evening hours and travel to community-based locations across New York City.

COMPENSATION

This is a full-time position. The salary range is $72,000-$77,000, commensurate with experience. Hot Bread Kitchen’s comprehensive benefits package includes health/vision/dental insurance (eligible from day one), 401K contributions, paid office closure days (including holidays and staff appreciation days, and a one-week holiday break at the end of the year), flexible and generous vacation and sick time, paid parental leave, and a sabbatical program (after 5 years of service).
