Summary:
The CASAC Consultant will function as consultant to ACS, under the supervision of the Child Center of NY Team Coordinator/Director and will be located full time within one of the ACS Field Office Sites located in New York City.

Essential Functions:
Assess and determine whether client is using/ misusing on substances via substance use disorder (SUD) assessments, brief interventions, and consultations.
Make recommendations for community-based services indicated by the level of care needed.
Keep statistics of clients served as part of a monthly progress report for ACS.
Help interpret results of alcohol/drug screenings conducted by an ACS contracted provider or other lab report for toxicology testing.
Participate in Family Team Meetings and Child Safety Conferences to assist ACS workers with providing the client with psychoeducation, raising awareness and discussing the benefits of an SUD assessment with problematic substance use.
Conduct trainings for child welfare staff to teach about drugs, the signs and symptoms of use/ misuse, and environmental presentation of drug use/ misuse and engagement strategies. Trainings will be focused on teaching ACS workers about the progressive nature of addiction as well as the impact of drug use and abuse on parent’s capacity to parent/function. Teach the impact of substance abuse on familial homeostasis and how this disruption may manifest negatively in the emotional, social and academic wellbeing of the child(ren).
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Occasional field visits when necessary to assist with engaging clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
CASAC II
with at least three years of experience. Experience with working with ACS and persons with co-occurring disorders preferred.
Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently, prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.
Excellent writing skills and engagement skills
Ability to work as part of a team, understand, respect and work in a host environment
Word, excel, power point skills required.
High School Diploma or its equivalent
