Job Description

Crisis Prevention/Intervention Specialist Social Enterprise and Training (SEAT) Center 131 State Street, Schenectady, NY 12305 The Social Enterprise and Training (SEAT) Center is seeking to fill the position of Crisis Prevention & Intervention Specialist. This position will implement appropriate crisis preparedness and response using existing resources (staff and community) to enhance a positive learning environment for SEAT Center students. This role is a pivotal member of our interdisciplinary team and ensuring student access while in program and throughout transition and follow up.

Qualifications:

Ø Provides crisis guidance for individual students, groups of students and families. Ø Provides case management services. Ø Provides support to staff on site and in the classroom regarding appropriate barrier removal and crisis response for individual students and/or their families. Ø Support the afterhours support system. Ø Support community partnerships regarding social service programs available to students and families Ø Provides referrals and advocacy for students in areas of housing, food, public assistance benefits, domestic violence and court to name a few. Ø Participates in developing a positive school learning environment based on restorative practice principles. Ø Compiles data and generates reports related to student development. Ø Works collaboratively as part of a cohesive team in order to address student barriers. Ø Creates and follows up on individual support service plans. Ø Builds rapport with students, families, staff, and community to counsel as well as to convey information about resources, provide education about topics and to instruct individuals and/or groups in prevention, intervention and postvention strategies related to crisis. Ø Availability to travel from SEAT centers to student locations and in between sites to navigate the needs of the students and program as they present themselves. Qualifications Ø Must have an associate degree in behavioral health and 3 years’ experience in the field. Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred. Ø Demonstrated placement track record and experience in engaging employers and trade unions. Ø Highly experienced at career counseling methodology using a best bet, stackable credential framework. Ø Must have a deep respect for the ideas and intelligence of young adults and a proven track record in working with young adults who have experienced multiple barriers to success. Ø Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment and willingness to try new ideas while working with a collaborative team approach. Position must have a current and valid NYS Driver’s license as position includes transportation responsibilities. Skills Ø Organizational skills sufficient for accurate recordkeeping, data collection, Ø Presentation preparation and delivery – along with excellent verbal and written communication. Ø Manage and prioritize personal schedules with the ability to work independently. Ø Understanding the organization’s overall business and its objectives Ø Must be willing and able to conduct regular home visits. Ø Excellent time management, project management and ability to meet deadlines. Ø Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ø Proficient use of computers with related knowledge of software programs as related to position including Microsoft Suite, and ability to learn/navigate other applications.

Full-time Pay:

$42,000.00 – $52,000.00 per year
