The Yates CountyRe-Entry Peer Advocate plays a critical role in supporting inmateswith substance use disorders as they prepare to re-enter thecommunity. Working under the supervision of the Program Director,this position partners closely with counselors at the Yates CountyJail to provide peer support, recovery guidance, and resources. Asa role model, the Re-Entry Peer Advocate uses their own recoveryjourney to inspire hope, assist inmates in developing copingskills, and encourage the successful transition to communityliving.
Must-Have Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GEDequivalent. Valid NYS Driver’s License. Lived experience in mentalhealth or substance use recovery, or experience supporting someonein recovery. Willingness to participate in peer certificationtraining and obtain CRPA-P certification within four months ofemployment.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Certified Peer SupportSpecialist (NYCPS) through OMH or OASAS. Certified Peer Advocate(CRPA) certification.
