Position Information Posting Number S01716 Position Title Career Pathways Advisor – Business/Arts, Media and Communication Working Title Career Pathways Advisor – Business/Arts, Media and Communication Position Number Position Type Exempt Division and Department Information Division Academic Affairs Department Career Center-Office Posting Information Job Summary/Basic Function The Career Pathway Advisor assumes the role of a specialized career advisor, taking the lead in guiding and supporting students with aspirations in multiple key industries. This position is responsible for overseeing two (2) career communities and supporting a portion of the career explorer career community. Their responsibilities encompass providing both comprehensive and specialized career coaching, conducting skills development workshops, organizing industry exploration programs, collaborating with faculty and administrative partners, establishing alumni networks, and curating resources to enhance students’ career readiness. This position supports the Business as well as the Nonprofit, Education, & Social Impact career communities.

Essential Functions:

Offer both general and specialized career advising to students and alumni interested in careers related to Business (including finance) and Nonprofit, Education, & Social Impact industry sectors. Conduct one-on-one and group sessions to educate and prepare students for internships, full-time job and graduate school applications, encompassing research techniques, search strategies, networking approaches, resume and interview preparation, and salary negotiation guidance. Oversee two (2) career communities while collaborating closely with faculty and alumni to assess the requirements of assigned industries. Work closely with the Director of Career Pathways on responsibilities and events related to the Business career community. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and present informative materials on diverse career subjects. Develop tailored career exploration programs and organize trips to cater to specific needs of each community. Support and contribute to the academic internship program’s (INP) learning goals and delivery of its reflective curriculum. Work with an assigned cohort of students to read, evaluate, and provide comprehensive feedback on student assignments, adhering to the standards and protocols established by the Associate Provost for High Impact Learning & Fellowships. Guide students in exploring careers, including those beyond assigned areas, by conducting interest inventories, skills assessments, and facilitating self-exploration exercises. Provide feedback and interpretation of assessment results to help students gain insights into potential career paths. Support the overall business operations of the department working with various software and technology platforms including, but not limited to, Handshake, Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Teams, and LinkedIn. Support and facilitate the execution of signature career events (e.g., Career Treks, etc.) and workshops/boot camps. Deliver engaging presentations in classroom and other campus settings to provide students with valuable insights and guidance regarding careers.

Preferred Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s Degree – Any field of study 1-3 years work experience

Preferred:

Master’s Degree – Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, Business Administration or related field. A valid Driver’s Licence is required. Employees (operators) must have been in possession of a valid operator’s license for not less than three (3) years and the license must have been in good standing without interruption during that time period. No Successful candidate will also be required to complete ACT 153 Clearance No This position is considered “Emergency Staff.” As such they may be required to report to work even when the college is closed or is operating under a delayed start.
