Category Schools – Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract A K-12 educational setting in Luzerne County, PA is seeking a dedicated Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) for the 2025-2026 school year. This full-time, itinerant position provides specialized mobility training and orientation services to students across multiple districts within the county. The role requires the professional to support students in developing safe and effective navigation skills tailored to their unique needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct orientation and mobility assessments for students with visual impairments. Develop and implement individualized instruction plans focused on travel skills and safety. Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to integrate mobility goals within educational programming. Provide consultative services to schools and families regarding environmental adaptations and assistive technologies. Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and compliance with program standards. Travel within Luzerne County to serve students in various school districts.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Pennsylvania Orientation and Mobility Specialist License. Completion of all required Pennsylvania clearances prior to start date. Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and manage itinerant scheduling.
