Position Description Advertised Job Summary Under the supervision of the Director of Recruitment and Retention, the Recruitment and Retention Coordinator will be responsible for supporting recruitment and retention efforts for undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences. This position focuses on events and activities aimed at building a strong population of incoming students and retaining current students, with a goal of sustaining a robust, academically successful population of students in the college—with a particular focus on prospective and current students from the state of South Carolina. As assigned by the Director, this position works with college staff, student ambassadors, and other campus units to support and deliver impactful events, develop new activities, and assess programs for continuous improvement. This position requires occasional evening and weekend work. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials none Preferred Qualifications Prior work experience in recruitment or event coordination in a higher education environment. Prior work experience in student services or peer leadership in a higher education environment. Bachelor’s degree in an Arts and Sciences discipline. Demonstrated familiarity with College of Arts and Sciences curricula, policies, and administrative processes. Job Duties Job Duty Recruitment Support:
Work with supervisor to help plan, coordinate and implement the College of Arts & Sciences’ contributions to university recruitment events, including Open Houses, Admitted Student Weekends, Top Scholars Day, Summer Seniors, and others. Represent the college at events by giving informational presentations, tabling, and responding to queries from prospective students and parents. Assist with identifying, communicating with and coordinating event volunteers. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 35
Job Duty Retention Programming Support:
Assist with planning, coordination and delivery of college events focused on retention of current students, including Welcome Back Bash and Family Weekend. As directed by supervisor, conduct benchmarking research and review university data relevant to undergraduate recruitment and retention to identify patterns and inform development of existing and new programming.
