POSITION SUMMARY
The Academic Student Union (ASU) Coach is responsible for delivering high-impact academic support, enrichment programming, and postsecondary guidance to students from 9th grade through college. The Coach supports both in-school and out-of-school-time efforts to increase enrichment participation, academic achievement, college access, and postsecondary success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develop strong, trusting relationships with students to support academic, personal, and postsecondary success.
Plan and facilitate afterschool enrichment clubs, tutoring sessions, and college/career readiness activities that align with program goals and student interests.
Provide individualized and group academic coaching, including ACT prep and study skill development.
Guide students through college and career exploration, applications, FAFSA, and scholarship processes.
Support students with transitions from high school to college and through their second year of postsecondary education.
Assist with school-based interventions, classroom visits, and academic check-ins.
Monitor academic progress and implement appropriate interventions or referrals.
Maintain detailed student records, including attendance, academic performance, and coaching interactions.
Track student progress using program data systems and report regularly to the Site Director.
Collaborate with school faculty, families, peer mentors, and community partners to deliver wraparound support.
Support postsecondary preparation including college visits, application workshops, FAFSA completion, and scholarship navigation.
Coordinate and chaperone field trips, special events, and college/career exploration activities.
Participate in training, staff meetings, school events, and program-wide initiatives.
Ensure ASU site is clean and program supplies are stocked appropriately.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging culture within the ASU site.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in human or social services, education, or related field.
Experience in youth development, college access/advising, or enrichment program leadership.
Proficiency in Salesforce or student tracking databases is a plus.

Strong understanding of college admissions, FAFSA, ACT prep, and student engagement strategies.
