Purpose and Functions:
The WIOA Business and Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for leading business development and outreach efforts across the region to connect employers, community partners, and educational institutions with WIOA-funded workforce development services. This role builds strong relationships to promote workforce initiatives, secures training and job opportunities for participants, and supports Career Advisors with employer and partner engagement. The coordinator collaborates closely with Business Services Representatives and ensures alignment with local workforce strategies and performance outcomes.
General Responsibilities:
- Lead regional business engagement efforts to promote On-the-Job Training (OJT), Paid Work Experience (PWE), Apprenticeships, and other employer services.
- Collaborate with the AJC Business Services team to implement consistent workflows for employer engagement, job orders, and candidate referrals.
- Build and maintain relationships with employers, community organizations, educational institutions, chambers of commerce, and workforce partners.
- Represent the organization at job fairs, career expos, employer meetings, and other workforce development events.
- Coordinate and participate in industry sector roundtables and facilitate community partner presentations at American Job Centers (AJCs).
- Ensure program activities comply with WIOA guidelines and local policies; maintain accurate documentation and records.
- Conduct labor market analysis to identify employment trends and tailor training and placement services to workforce demands.
- Assist in developing OJT training plans that align with both employer needs and participant skill development.
- Act as a liaison between internal departments, Career Advisors, and partner agencies to ensure quality service delivery.
- Support eligibility, enrollment, and referral processes in coordination with Career Advisors.
- Assist Career Advisors in obtaining wage and employment verification from employers to support WIOA customer outcomes and performance reporting.
- Monitor outreach outcomes and contribute to performance reports and continuous improvement efforts.
- Facilitate job readiness workshops and provide hands-on assistance with resumes, applications, interview techniques, and career development.
- Build and maintain relationships with local employers to support job placements, internships, and work experience opportunities.
- Collaborate with American Job Center staff, workforce partners, training providers, and community agencies to coordinate comprehensive client services.
- Participate in Rapid Response activities in coordination with state and local partners to support businesses and affected workers during layoffs or closures.
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all services and interactions in electronic case management systems such as Jobs4TN.
- Provide referrals to community and social service agencies as needed to address barriers to employment.
- Maintain a customer service-oriented approach with all clients, partners, and colleagues.
- Meet all required performance goals and outcomes for assigned programs.
- Participate in cross-training and provide support across other programs and offices operated by Workforce Essentials, Inc. as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the success of career services programs.
- Some travel may be required within the local workforce area.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, education, human services, or related field preferred. High School Diploma required.
- Minimum of three years of experience in workforce development, business services, community outreach, or a related area is preferred.
- Familiarity with WIOA programs, employer engagement strategies, and community-based partnerships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, virtual collaboration tools, and workforce data systems such as Jobs4TN.
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid, unrestricted driver’s license, a good driving record, and maintain vehicle insurance.
Position requires some travel; reimbursed at the state travel rate.

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work:
This is a salary, full time position based on a 37.5 hour work week. This position follows the work schedule of the American Job Center Hours. Unless otherwise stated, normal work hours of work are 8:00 – 4:30, Monday through Friday. This position may require the flexibility to modify work schedule if needed to meet the needs of customers and the American Job Center.
