The purpose of this job is to provide support for student health screenings and assist with the on-site set up and implementation of body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure screenings.

Note:

Since this position is funded by the grant, continuation in the position is contingent upon funding from year-to-year and staffing needs. Responsibilities Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times. Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to school and other stakeholders. Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures. Ensures screening equipment is in proper working order. Prepares and secures permission forms for each school for BMI data collection. Prepares screening rosters and result letters to school. Coordinates site visits with school personnel. Enters health data as directed by the coordinated school health specialist. Assists the Coordinated School Health Coordinator with educational programs, school events, and other projects as necessary. Attends meetings as required. Communicates through the proper channels to keep supervisor and other appropriate personnel informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature. Follows established procedures for ensuring assigned areas are safe. Works collaboratively with school staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders. Attends work and arrives to work on time. Maintains confidentiality. Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law. Operates a vehicle to travel to various sites within the district to accomplish assigned tasks. Performs basic maintenance of equipment. Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, sending/receiving faxes, or filing documentation. Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence as required. Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; operates general office/school equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Knowledge/Education/Experience:

High School diploma or GED required. One (1) year of experience with job tasks relating to body mass index, blood pressure or other health screenings preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to use technology to complete essential functions of job. Ability to operate equipment to perform essential functions of job. Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to calculate decimals and percentages.

Compensation:

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. Minimum Salary – $16.27/hour
