Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Job Developer/Disability Specialist to join our team. You MUST have the ACRE Certification , and be willing to get the ACRE Pro while employed with us. As a Disability Specialist, you will be responsible for working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities , providing support and guidance to help them achieve their employment goals. Under the direction of the Director, the Disability Support Service person develops job opportunities, internships and continued employment for persons supported with disabilities with employers and community organizations. The developer facilitates job placement through the use of specific job related strategies and places individuals in jobs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with individuals with developmental disabilities to assess their needs and develop personalized employment plans
- Provide counseling and support services to help individuals overcome barriers to employment
- Conduct assessments to determine vocational skills, interests, and abilities
- Collaborate with employers to identify job opportunities and negotiate accommodations for individuals with disabilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of training programs for individuals with disabilities
- Educate employers on employment labor laws and regulations related to individuals with disabilities
- Conduct interviews and assessments to determine eligibility for disability benefits
- Provide ongoing support and advocacy for individuals in the workforce
- Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to promote workforce development initiatives
Skills:
- Strong understanding of working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of social work principles and practices
- Familiarity with employment labor laws and regulations pertaining to individuals with disabilities
- Ability to develop and deliver training programs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
