Job Description
Weakley County Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Workplace Readiness Specialist. Pay is a range commensurate with experience. An attached resumé is preferred but not required.

Purpose of Job
Weakley County Schools intends that every graduate is prepared for life after high school. Whether this life starts with college, technical school, or work, all students deserve the opportunity to be ready and prepared for those challenges. The Workplace Readiness Specialist assists and instructs special education high school students in the five Pre-ETS services to prepare them for paid and non-paid work and/or post-secondary learning.

Job exploration counseling
Work-based learning experiences
Post-secondary counseling
Workplace readiness
Self-advocacy
Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma AND one or more years of experience working with individuals with disabilities
• Experience in the area assigned preferred
  Essential Functions or Duties
• Work with the Transition School to Work grant team members to decide on the skills that will be taught at the high school level, including developing resumes, reference contact lists, applications, mock interviews, etc.
• Assist students in determining the workplace and life skills needed to become and remain employed.
• Identify strengths and deficiencies that each student is experiencing in the area of professional work behavior, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking and develop ways to address these needs while enhancing strengths.
• Prepare students for Work-based Learning and communicate any reported or observed needs to the teacher, Transition Case Manager, Transition Coach, and/or the Pre-ETS Specialists.
• Teach recipients how to perform specific tasks and understand workplace policies while modeling appropriate workplace behavior.
• Perform all duties with integrity, professionalism, and in compliance with all school, district, state, and federal laws/policies.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  Physical Demands
  This job may require lifting objects that exceed 20 pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

  Capacity and Ability Requirements
