Job Description
Caregiver/Communication Partner NextGen Supports for Independence Inc. Dunedin, FL 34698 Personal Care Assistant/Communication Partner – FT and PT positions in Dunedin, Clearwater and areas in Pinellas County. Day and Evening shifts with some weekends
Requirements:
- Must have own car and pass a level 2 background check
- Must be comfortable with impulsive behaviors, and presume competence
- Must be comfortable supporting ASD individuals in the community and private homes with age-appropriate activities. Engagement skills are a must
- Must be reliable and have excellent communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Support individuals with non-speaking autism in private homes to increase social skill development, communication fluency and life skills
- Personal care assistance, medication administration and communication sessions
- Motor coaching to facilitate regulation Seeking those experienced with autism who are motivated to learn more.
Specialized on-the-job training will be provided to effectively support young adult clients. College degree or some college preferred as well as experience teaching autistic individuals. On-going training provided to teach individuals how to use a letterboard/keyboard to communicate. Autism experience required as well as a desire to learn and accept people who think differently. Excellent opportunity for OT/SLP/Special Education students, paraprofessionals, or those with group home experience looking to work with one client. Only professional and serious inquiries please.
