As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in a personal care home setting. Your responsibilities will include assisting with personal care, managing behaviors, and ensuring the dignity and rights of each resident are upheld. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Provide dementia care by engaging residents in activities that promote cognitive function and emotional well-being. Implement behavior management techniques to support residents with challenging behaviors. Ensure the safety and comfort of residents by lifting and transferring them as needed while adhering to proper lifting techniques. Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents. Drive residents to appointments or activities as required, ensuring their safety during transportation. Uphold resident rights by treating all individuals with respect and dignity. Administer first aid when necessary and respond appropriately to emergencies. Qualifications Previous experience in a personal care home or similar environment is preferred but not required. Knowledge of ADLs and experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with residents and their families. Ability to lift and assist residents safely, following proper techniques to prevent injury. Understanding of dementia care principles and behavior management strategies is a plus. Certification in First Aid is preferred but can be obtained upon hiring. Must possess a valid driver’s license if driving residents is required.
