Personal Care Attendant (PCA) Self direction Client Baton Rouge, LA 70816 Especially looking for employees who are already registered with the “Acumen Self Direction Client Program”. Female client shares family home but has suite of her own. She uses a wheelchair and has a very advanced muscle disease and needs assistance with ALL areas of regular Daily Living. We need a few more individuals to make a team for a 24/7 client. Client is tall , about 130 lbs. , 48 years old, uses a hospital bed, assisted with manual and power chair. Knowledge and use of Hoyer Lift helpful. Potential employee will need a positive attitude and upbeat personality. Client used to lead a very active lifestyle and is now very limited but wants to get out and do as much as possible. Employee MUST enjoy being around dogs and cats that like people! This is very important as they are a big part of our “family” . Ninety Days Trial Employment agreement for both parties. Must have to bring VALID driver’s license, Social Security Card. Must pass Nationwide background check and agree to random drug screening. Responsibilities and Duties Assisting with all areas of daily living, from meal preparation to toileting, medication assistance, transportation to Dr. appointments ( some Virtual), shopping, eating out, physical therapy, etc. Daily physical range of motion exercise is necessary to control muscle pain . Client has transportation. Under non-Covid 19 times and conditions, she would enjoy visiting with or just talking to friends, shopping, good food, new experiences, traveling and family trips and vacations. Qualifications and Skills High School graduate/GED necessary. Medical and/or Caregiving background. Need proof of First Aid and CPR training within first 90 days of starting. Prefer applicants living close to zip code 70816 (south Baton Rouge) In general, you will assist with medications, handle daily activities and help client with making appointments and correspondence., Facebook , emails, Kindle, games, visit friends and family in area, etc.
