Youth Support Specialist Waldo Burton Boy’s Home Carrollton, LA 70118 Waldo Burton Boys Home is a private non-profit foundation that has been serving the needs of boys in the New Orleans area since 1824. We are a family-centered program that provides quality adult supervision and a variety of social services for young boys. We work with three types of residents: Dependent or neglected boys, emotionally disadvantaged boys, and boys exhibiting mild behavior problems. Our goal is to encouraging behavioral and attitudinal changes in the context of a supportive environment. Our boys work on learning and displaying age-appropriate behavior and needed interpersonal skills to help them become successful young men. Job description Youth Support Specialist (Relief) Counselor The appropriate Residential Youth Support Specialist will need to be a

CHILD-CENTERED

individual with the ability to be receptive to training to recognize and work with boys with mild to moderate mental health and minor behavioral problems. The Residential Youth Support Specialist primary job duty will be to assist the Dorm Manager with managing various daily routines, group activities and educational study periods with the boys. They will be expected to assist and handle all situations arising from the day-to-day interactions and communicate any atypical characteristics of a resident to the Dorm Manager. They will also be asked to drive residents to and from school or appointments as needed.

Job Requirements:
  • Must be a Child-Centered individual with some experience working with troubled youth and exhibit appropriate parenting skills
  • High School diploma a must. College degree in psychology, social work or work in an applicable field is preferred. Being enrolled in college is a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be vehicle insurable
  • Must be able to work inside, outside and walk up and down stairs
  • Must be able to work with entire staff in a professional and productive manner with the boys’ interest first
  • Have the temperament and emotional stability to work with youth under stress or in a crisis situation
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug test to work with youth
Responsibilities:
  • Supervising and caring for boys in their assigned dormitory
  • Following the established routine and guidelines of Waldo Burton
  • Executing various tasks included at our Boys Home like meal preparation, laundry, etc.
  • Communicate with Dormitory Manager / Staff / families and or residents clearly and professionally
  • Punctuality, Attendance and Consistency are a MUST!

Monday

  • Thursday 11am
  • 6pm Fall Shift Monday
  • Thursday 3pm
  • 10pm, Friday 3-7pm or Sunday 4-10pm, Monday
  • Thursday 4pm
  • 11pm
Pay Range and Benefits:

Paid Health care for the individual / 3% 401K type match $13.00
