Direct Service Worker (DSW) Truth Professional Care Services New Orleans, LA 70129 Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Worker to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for clients, particularly those with autism, in assisted living settings or home community care. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to delivering personalized care while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining a safe environment. Responsibilities Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Implement and follow individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs. Provide direct support to individuals with autism, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times. Monitor and record vital signs as required, reporting any changes in the client’s condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals. Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and emotional well-being. Perform heavy lifting when necessary to assist clients with mobility or transfers. Maintain a clean and organized living space for clients, including light housekeeping duties. Uphold confidentiality and respect client privacy in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Collaborate with family members and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care. Requirements Previous experience in direct support or caregiving roles is preferred, particularly in assisted living or hospice care settings. Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and experience working with individuals with special needs is highly desirable. Ability to follow care plans accurately and provide compassionate support tailored to individual needs. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility challenges. Basic cooking skills are an asset for meal preparation tasks. Familiarity with vital signs monitoring is beneficial but not mandatory; training may be provided.
