PCA Personal Care Assistant Position Available In St. Tammany, Louisiana

PCA Personal Care Assistant Kristin Walter’s Care Team Covington, LA 70433 Hello, My name is Kristin and I am 30 years old and a full-time wheelchair user. I have a disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy that causes overall weakness in all of my voluntary muscles. I require help with most activities of daily living, including but not limited to:

• transferring to and from my wheelchair
• transportation to doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, and social activities
• repositioning
• bathing
• toileting
• food prep
• assistance with handling my medications
• assistance with preparing any leisure activities as well as setting up my workspace for school
• light cleaning: making my bed, washing dishes on occasion, cleaning up after any activity, laundry, occasional organization I would prefer somebody with experience but it isn’t a requirement and I’m willing to work with people and train as needed.

A little more about me:

I partake in a host of hobbies and I am a full time student online. I also enjoy going to shows, movies, and concerts and engaging in the community. I have a taste for history, horror (movies, books, etc…), and creative pursuits. I spend a lot of time with my family (dogs included) and I’m currently studying history at LSUA. Overall, I’m looking for somebody who is reliable, trustworthy, can follow directions easily, is comfortable around dogs (I have three), and all together somebody who will bring a positive vibe to the environment. I’m fairly optimistic and cheerful person but having a lifelong disability can be a challenge and I am looking forward to finding someone who could be a good fit for the team. A valid driver’s license is required as is reliable transportation to and from work and reliable child care if necessary. Currently, I am hiring for PRN so if you have hours that you would potentially be able to work if one of my current caregivers calls in let me know what your availability is and we could potentially set you up as a backup for that time frame. I will be hiring for weekend shift in the near future as well. Shifts are usually 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and the weekend is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
