Habilitation Specialist Dream Team of La, Inc. 1206 J W Davis Dr Ste 106, Hammond, LA 70403 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Habilitation Specialist to join our team. This role is crucial in providing support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism, in both home and community settings. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for caregiving, ensuring that clients receive the highest quality of care while promoting their independence and personal growth. Duties Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in daily living activities. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each client’s needs. Administer medication as prescribed and ensure proper documentation of medication administration. Facilitate communication between clients and their families, advocating for their needs and preferences. Develop and maintain individualized care plans that promote skill development and independence. Engage clients in community activities, enhancing their social skills and integration into the community. Utilize American Sign Language as needed to effectively communicate with clients who are deaf or hard of hearing. Drive clients to appointments, community events, or recreational activities as required. Requirements Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is preferred. Strong skills in behavior management techniques and caregiving practices. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members. Knowledge of home community care practices is beneficial. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for transportation purposes. Familiarity with medication administration protocols is a plus. Proficiency in American Sign Language is advantageous but not mandatory.
