To alleviate poverty, we deliver a variety of services including childcare, education, workforce development, nutrition, health, and community and housing support.

Position Overview:

The Family Support Worker is responsible for working with other FRC staff, parent agency staff, parents, and community partners to assess, refer, and provide direct services for families; identify and catalogue resources; engage community partners in offering some of their services onsite or virtually; assist families in overcoming barriers to resource access; and identify needed services not currently being provided in the Fitchburg Community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assess the needs and strengths of families requesting support Complete agency intake, and adult/child screenings Engage and support families using a strength-based approach Provide families with resources, and referrals Provide case management for families receiving services at the FRC Identify community resources and build collaborative relationships with community partners Facilitate evidence-based programs, Nurturing Father’s, Parenting Journey, Nurturing families, and Active Parenting Host and facilitate support groups for parents/caregivers and youth Participate in team meetings and planning retreats Enter data into two systems

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Preferred bachelor’s degree in social work, Education, Human Services or related field, or with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar setting Extensive management experience in case management Excellent oral and written communication skills Organizing/activism experience Familiar with Fitchburg’s neighborhoods and surrounding cities/towns Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and reliable vehicle Demonstrated skills in group facilitation Bilingual Spanish/Creole preferred

Physical Requirements:

Compensation:

A salary within the range of $20.43 to $27.64 per hour will be provided to the successful candidate having met the minimum requirements for the position consistent with the MOC compensation philosophy. The candidate’s exact placement will be determined based on factors consistent with MOC’s compensation framework.
