POSITION SUMMARY

: Caregiver dutiesrevolve around providing care one-on-one for seniors. It is highlydependent on the individual’s special needs. When it comes tocaring for the elderly, it’s important to keep in mind thatcaregiver duties vary and being able to adapt and respond areimportant.

• Must obtain State Certification as a Nursing Assistantwithin specified time frame per offer letter.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

:

• Following the care plan as directed by supervising nurse.
• Assisting with bathing and grooming
• This can include but is notlimited to: shampooing hair, finger and toenail care, brushingteething, and shower assistance.
• Medication reminders
• Caregivers must assure that medications are taken at the correcttime as directed by the doctor.
• Light housekeeping
• It’simportant for caregivers to keep a safe and clean environment.

Duties related to housekeeping will typically involve making thebed and cleaning the bathroom and kitchen.

• Transferring theclient
• This refers to transferring the client from chairs, fromthe toilet, from bed, and to and from a vehicle.
• Toileting
• It’simportant to assist with using the toilet to encourage comfort andprevent any infections
• Monitoring changes in client’s health
• When following the care plan, the supervising nurse will want toknow if there are any changes in health that are concerning andthat may need medical attention.
• Companionship
• Possibly themost important of all caregiver duties, caregivers will be with theelder all day and it’s mutually beneficial if they enjoy eachother’s company. It’s a very important part of a caregiver job.
• Participates in and attends all in-service training and educationprograms as scheduled.
• Other duties as assigned.

Full Physical Demands, Work Environment, andExpected Hours of Work:

The physical demands described here arerepresentative of those that must be met by an employee tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Thisposition is very active and requires frequent standing, walking,bending, kneeling, stooping and climbing.
• This position will berequired to lift or carry weight up to 50 lbs. and ability to pushup to 250 pounds independently.
• The individual must use properbody mechanics to assist residents in their daily living.
• Thisposition regularly requires long hours and frequent night andweekend work.

TRAVEL:

No travel is expected although occasionaltravel may be required for training sessions, continuing educationopportunities, emergency situations, and other company functions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Certification in CPR, AED,and First Aid
• 1-2 years’ experience in a similar healthcareposition preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
• Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctualitystandards.
• Ability to use Electronic Records and miscellaneoussoftware and office equipment.
• Ability to understand and followdirections as given.
• Ability to work with minimalsupervision.
