POSITION SUMMARY
: Caregiver duties revolvearound providing care one-on-one for seniors. It is highlydependent on the individual’s special needs. When it comes tocaring for the elderly, it’s important to keep in mind thatcaregiver duties vary and being able to adapt and respond areimportant.
- Must obtain State Certification as a Nursing Assistantwithin specified time frame per offer letter.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
:
Following the care plan as directed by supervising nurse. Assistingwith bathing and grooming
- This can include but is not limited to:shampooing hair, finger and toenail care, brushing teething, andshower assistance. Medication reminders
- Caregivers must assurethat medications are taken at the correct time as directed by thedoctor. Light housekeeping
- It’s important for caregivers to keepa safe and clean environment. Duties related to housekeeping willtypically involve making the bed and cleaning the bathroom andkitchen. Transferring the client
- This refers to transferring theclient from chairs, from the toilet, from bed, and to and from avehicle. Toileting
- It’s important to assist with using the toiletto encourage comfort and prevent any infections Monitoring changesin client’s health
- When following the care plan, the supervisingnurse will want to know if there are any changes in health that areconcerning and that may need medical attention. Companionship
- Possibly the most important of all caregiver duties, caregiverswill be with the elder all day and it’s mutually beneficial if theyenjoy each other’s company.
It’s a very important part of acaregiver job. Participates in and attends all in-service trainingand education programs as scheduled. Other duties as assigned.

Full Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Expected Hours ofWork:
The physical demands described here are representative ofthose that must be met by an employee to successfully perform theessential functions of this job. This position is very active andrequires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stoopingand climbing. This position will be required to lift or carryweight up to 50 lbs. and ability to push up to 250 poundsindependently. The individual must use proper body mechanics toassist residents in their daily living. This position regularlyrequires long hours and frequent night and weekend work.
TRAVEL:
Notravel is expected although occasional travel may be required fortraining sessions, continuing education opportunities, emergencysituations, and other company functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENTS
Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid 1-2 years’experience in a similar healthcare position preferred.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to read, write, speak andunderstand English fluently. Ability to meet or exceed thecompany’s attendance and punctuality standards. Ability to useElectronic Records and miscellaneous software and office equipment.
Ability to understand and follow directions as given. Ability towork with minimal supervision.
