Position Summary:

The Personal Aide is primarily responsible for implementation of services delineated in the student’s Individual Education Plan. The Personal Care Aide works very closely with parents, teachers, and occupational / physical therapists in carrying out essential duties. B.

Primary Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

The Personal Care Aide will: a. Conduct activities that reinforce instruction presented by classroom teacher. b. Implement activities designed by occupational/physical therapists. c. Assist students with fine motor tasks conducted in the regular class room. d. Accompany students throughout the school setting. e. Accompany students on school bus and aid in donning and doffing the bus. f. Assist students in personal care activities. (Toileting) 2. Complete all other duties assigned by the special education teacher and / or the Director of Student Services C.

Human Relations:

1. Requires frequent interaction with parents, teachers, and related personnel. (OT and PT) 2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary in carrying out the tasks of this position. D.

Physical Requirements:

1. Most duties require physical ability and dexterity needed to keep pace with an active child. 2. Personal Care Aide will require squatting / stooping in maneuvering safe transfers of student. 3. Implementation of approved physical intervention techniques when necessary. E.

Education and/or experience:

1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Yearly training in Crisis Prevention Intervention. 3. Yearly certification in first aid / CPR. 4. Yearly Training in confidentiality.

Job Type:

$16.42 – $18.25 per hour
