Migratory Shorebird Survey & Monitoring Specialist I-2-I Solutions, Inc. 292 Boulevard De France, Parris Island, SC 29905 Overview We are seeking a Migratory Shorebird Survey & Monitoring Specialist to support the Natural Resources Section (NRS) of the Environmental Division (ENVDIV) at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island (MCRDPI). The specialist will conduct surveys, analyze data, and develop habitat management strategies for migratory shorebirds, including species protected under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

Key Responsibilities:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a shorebird survey and monitoring plan. Conduct field surveys throughout the year, adjusting frequency based on breeding and migratory seasons. Collect, analyze, and interpret data on species distribution, habitat use, and movement patterns. Prepare detailed reports, GIS maps, and habitat management recommendations. Coordinate with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) and other agencies. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Maintain proper documentation and submit findings to MCRD Parris Island personnel.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, Ecology, or a related field.

Experience:

At least three years of experience in avian surveys, preferably with migratory shorebirds.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in GIS mapping, data analysis, and avian tracking technologies (e.g., telemetry, banding).

Fieldwork Ability:

Comfortable working in various weather conditions and terrains.

Communication:

Strong writing skills for reporting and the ability to coordinate with government agencies.

Other Requirements:
