PCA Open Hearts Healthcare Charleston, SC 29417 Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of personal care services. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for clients by assisting them with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic medical care and be able to work effectively in various settings, including assisted living facilities, clinics, and home environments. Duties Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing. Provide support with mobility and transfers to ensure client safety. Monitor and record vital signs as needed. Administer basic medical care including catheter care and assistance with durable medical equipment (DME). Help clients with meal preparation and feeding when necessary. Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks. Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding client needs and changes in condition. Support clients in engaging in social activities to promote mental well-being. Skills Knowledge of anatomy and basic life support techniques is essential. Experience in assisted living or geriatrics is preferred. Familiarity with clinical systems and procedures related to patient care. Previous experience in urgent care or pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) settings is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
