POSITION SUMMARY

: Caregiver dutiesrevolve around providing care one-on-one for seniors. It is highlydependent on the individual’s special needs. When it comes tocaring for the elderly, it’s important to keep in mind thatcaregiver duties vary and being able to adapt and respond areimportant. Currently hiring for Full Time Positions 7a-7p and 7p-7aESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS

:

  • Following the care plan as directed bysupervising nurse.
  • Assisting with bathing and grooming
  • This caninclude but is not limited to: shampooing hair, finger and toenailcare, brushing teething, and shower assistance.
  • Medicationreminders
  • Caregivers must assure that medications are taken atthe correct time as directed by the doctor.
  • Light housekeeping
  • It’s important for caregivers to keep a safe and clean environment.

Duties related to housekeeping will typically involve making thebed and and cleaning the bathroom and kitchen

  • Transferring theclient
  • This refers to transferring the client from chairs, fromthe toilet, from bed, and to and from a vehicle.
  • Toileting
  • It’simportant to assist with using the toilet to encourage comfort andprevent any infections
  • Monitoring changes in client’s health
  • When following the care plan, the supervising nurse will want toknow if there are any changes in health that are concerning andthat may need medical attention.
  • Companionship
  • Possibly themost important of all caregiver duties, caregivers will be with theelder all day and it’s mutually beneficial if they enjoy eachother’s company. It’s a very important part of a caregiver job.
  • Participates in and attends all in-service training and educationprograms as scheduled.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Full Physical Demands, Work Environment, andExpected Hours of Work:

The physical demands described here arerepresentative of those that must be met by an employee tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Thisposition is very active and requires frequent standing, walking,bending, kneeling, stooping and climbing.
  • This position will berequired to lift or carry weight up to 50 lbs. and ability to pushup to 250 pounds independently.
  • The individual must use properbody mechanics to assist residents in their daily living.
  • Thisposition regularly requires long hours and frequent night andweekend work.
TRAVEL:

No travel is expected although occasionaltravel may be required for training sessions, continuing educationopportunities, emergency situations, and other company functions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Certification in CPR, AED,and First Aid
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years’ experiencein a similar healthcare position preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ANDABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understandEnglish fluently.
  • Ability to meet or exceed the company’sattendance and punctuality standards.
  • Ability to use ElectronicRecords and miscellaneous software and office equipment.
  • Abilityto understand and follow directions as given.
  • Ability to workwith minimal supervision.
