We strive to reach all persons at risk and bring about social change. Job Summary The primary role of the Rapid Re-Housing (RRH) Advocate is to provide comprehensive case management services to victims of domestic violence referred to the RRH program. The advocate will use a housing first approach, will include trauma-informed, survivor-centered approaches to rebuilding self-esteem, developing essential life skills, and establishing financial independence by supporting client goals to increase income and self-sufficiency. The RRH Advocate will provide support services to victims of domestic violence and their children; counseling, risk assessment, safety planning, goal setting, information and referrals. The RRH Advocate will maintain accurate records of client activities in physical and digital files. This position is to be carried out while empowering victims with respect to their safety and rights to self-determination. General Duties Follow all agency practices, policies and procedures as written in the IH Employee, Policy, and Personnel Handbooks and other directives as issued by supervisor(s) Participate in research and evaluation projects approved and sanctioned by CCADV Be certified as a domestic violence counselor under CGS 52-146K, which requires successful completion of the agency’s training program Attend six hours of additional training per year to retain Battered Woman’s Counselor Certificate Mandatory attendance at IH staff meetings Meet monthly or as requested with supervisor Attend other internal or external meetings as requested by supervisor and represent Interval House on appropriate community committees Attend training sessions, workshops, and conferences as requested or approved by supervisor Participate in IH fundraising events Maintain office space and general environment for cleanliness and safety Responsibilities Program Operation & Direct Service Provide trauma-informed case management services to victims of domestic violence that have been referred to the RRH program, determine interventions that can achieve RRH success for households Accurately complete paperwork with clients, including intake, assessments to determine eligibility, verification of homelessness, and all other RRH program documentation Attend all required

trainings, meetings, and webinars remaining current and up-to- date on evolving policies and program procedures; attend and participate in Greater Hartford Coordinated Access Network (GH-CAN) housing solutions meetings as appropriate Meet at least monthly with victims to assess client needs and provide individualized domestic violence counseling, update housing stabilization plan; conduct home visits as needed for program compliance Develop action and safety plans to address domestic violence relationships, housing stability solutions, employment, entitlements, physical and mental health, substance use, and other case specific concerns, as well as support services such as budgeting, landlord/tenant relations, and educational counseling to increase income Provide information and referrals to resources, connecting victims to both internal and community supports Maintain accurate records of all client activities, referrals and progress; utilize paper files and electronic databases Submit timely payment requests using official RRH forms, with accompanying documentation Assist with coordinating operation of residential domestic violence facility; including conflict resolution, crisis prevention and intervention, de-escalation, safety and rule enforcement Provide written educational information on domestic violence, its effects on victims, and children Provide Victim Compensation information and assistance in filing necessary forms Advocate with outside systems regarding client needs Model friendly, caring, non-violent behavior with good boundaries as a trusted adult temporarily in the lives of victims and their families Support Director of Residential Programs and other advocates as needed Documentation Create and maintain client files, including collection of necessary documents Enter accurate client information into appropriate database in a timely manner Distribute satisfaction surveys to all heads of household at key points of service Ensure accuracy of all statistics and grant requirements pertaining to the program Respond to narrative report questions as assigned Maintain historical records according to agency best practices Support Director of Residential Programs with additional requests as needed Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree preferred Minimum 2-3 years’ case management experience in the field of domestic violence, social service outreach, or a closely related area; equivalent combination of educational experience considered Familiar with best practices for individual counseling, housing first model, and trauma informed care Demonstrated ability to manage crisis or emergency situations, and to prioritize multiple demands in a fast-paced environment Ability to quickly learn area social service, housing, legal, employment, and medical resources and to become conversant with the dynamics of domestic violence, teen dating violence, and the impact of domestic violence on parenting and children; existing familiarity with these areas preferred Excellent organizational skills, planning, and time management with flexibility to address urgent needs Self-motivated, proactive, and energetic; at ease with children and parenting families Possess a passion for working with people and engaging in the community Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, as well as to work independently with respect for direction and assignments Must be able to work seamlessly with diverse populations, promoting equity and inclusion for historically marginalized groups Personal qualities of integrity, professionalism, patience, and the ability to manage confidential information in a sensitive manner Technical competency with Microsoft Office, email correspondence, and the use of online resources for research and task completion Spanish bilingual/bicultural ability, both written and verbal strongly preferred Must have a current driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and willingness to drive independently Must be able to pass a criminal background check Ability to stand and sit for long periods, and to lift and move equipment as necessary Details Part-time On site, Monday – Friday, typically 20hrs per week and may include occasional evenings or weekends Reports to the
